Monday Madness debuted at Central School last spring with a tasting of grape tomatoes. Along with Chef Goodman's humor, the tomatoes were a huge hit with the kids, who quickly requested another Monday Madness. Before the end of the year our second tasting was pineapple, which the kids loved.

This fall we came back with two tastings in October…one fruit and one soup. Chef Goodman provided apple as a seasonal fruit. The ladies from the Big Red House Soups provided a tasting of their very own butternut squash and apple soup. The kids devoured it! In January we decided to go a little Middle Eastern and offered the kids a tasting of a beautiful orange beet salad which was presented by our very own Chef Meiganne Serrano. It was served with a white bean hummus and pita chips. The beet salad and hummus were another huge hit with the kids.

All in all Monday Madness seems to be quite a success at Central. Our hopes are to expand the kids’ tastes and provide them with nutritional information. We also hope to show them that there are many great foods and tastes in our world that they need to give a chance.
